The Women’s Game

Women’s Cricket

Women’s cricket has its own teams, its own tournaments and its own record books, and this page brings all of it together in one place. Follow the international sides and the franchise squads, check who is playing today, and read the results once the match is done.

The ICC publishes separate ODI and T20I rankings for the women’s game, and both are listed below with the leading teams. Every team, player and tournament here links to a full profile with squads, career details and the facts we hold. Nothing on this page is an estimate: if a figure is not published yet, the block says so instead of guessing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The first women's match on record was played in England in 1745 and reported in a local newspaper. Organised international cricket for women followed much later, in the twentieth century.

The Laws of cricket are the same. The ball is slightly lighter than the men's ball and boundary distances are set for the ground, but the way the game is played, scored and won does not change.

Yes. Women's and men's rankings are held separately, and each format is ranked on its own. The rankings page lets you switch between them for the formats we hold a snapshot for.

Yes, although women's Tests are played far less often than one-day and Twenty20 internationals. A women's Test is scheduled over four days rather than five.

The women's matches are gathered on this page, and they also appear in the main match centre alongside the men's. Finished ones move to the results page in the same way.

This page is built from the women's teams, players, matches and tournaments already in the database, and the counts at the top of it are live. It fills in as more women's data is added rather than being written by hand.

About the Women’s Game

The women's cricket section groups the site's coverage of international women's cricket by team, match, and ranking. National teams appear with their current squads and player profiles. Matches are carried in the main match data and flagged as women's, then shown in the Match Centre. Rankings cover the published ICC women's ODI and T20I tables, with each ranked team linking to its profile.

Teams

Each major women's national team has a page listing the squad on file. Where a squad is not recorded, the page says so. There are no women's franchise or domestic teams on the site.

Matches

Women's matches are part of the site's match data and appear in the Match Centre with a women's flag. Competitions with no published matches are not shown.
