About the Team

The Delhi Capitals, rebranded from the Delhi Daredevils ahead of the 2019 season, have slowly shed their early reputation for underachievement. Known for a calculated but aggressive brand of T20 cricket, they blend a strong Indian core with explosive overseas talent. The franchise has often been one of the IPL's better fielding units, and its culture emphasises youth development, giving promising domestic players a platform early in their careers.

The team made the playoffs in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and reached its first final in 2020, losing to Mumbai Indians, but the title remains elusive. From the Daredevils years under captains like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir to the Rishabh Pant era, they have had memorable moments and star names, including AB de Villiers, David Warner and Anrich Nortje. Injuries and inconsistent form have struck at crucial times, and Pant's departure to Lucknow in 2025 opened yet another rebuild, with KL Rahul among the arrivals. Even so, the franchise's passionate Delhi fanbase keeps believing that their day will come.
