Nat Sciver-Brunt

Nat Sciver-Brunt was born in Tokyo and raised partly abroad before settling in England, and her career has been built on the all-round demands of the international game. She made her England debut in 2013 as a pace-bowling all-rounder and gradually worked her way up the batting order. The 2017 World Cup on home soil was her breakout: she hammered two group-stage hundreds, invented the through-the-legs 'Natmeg' along the way, and made a vital 51 in the final win over India at Lord's.

Her power in the middle overs and at the death has made her the bedrock of England's batting, while her medium-pace swing still buys important wickets. She has passed 3,000 ODI runs, scored back-to-back hundreds in the 2023 Ashes ODIs, and produced two of the great losing performances in finals, with unbeaten centuries against Australia in the 2022 World Cup final and the Commonwealth Games gold-medal match.

She stood in as captain when Heather Knight was injured in 2022, and in 2025 was appointed England captain in her own right. In franchise cricket she has been a star for Trent Rockets in The Hundred and Mumbai Indians in the WPL, winning titles in India.

Married to former England fast bowler Katherine Sciver-Brunt, she has spoken openly about mental health, taking a break from the game in 2022 before returning stronger. In her early 30s, she remains England's most valuable cricketer and the wicket opponents prize most.
