LMIC Grant Successful Applicants 2019

G-I-N is once again delighted to be able to offer support to four of our members from Low and Lower Middle income countries to attend the 2019 Conference in Adelaide.  These members are:   


Awuor Ponge

Awuor Ponge serves as Associate Research Fellow in-charge of Research, Policy and Evaluation Fellow at the African Policy Centre (APC). He is a Doctoral Candidate and Adjunct Faculty at Kenyatta University’s Department of Sociology, Gender and Development Studies.

He’s a Double-Master’s Degree holder in Development Studies from the Institute for Development Studies of the University of Nairobi on Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF) Scholarship; and in Education, Gender and International Development (MA – EGID) from the University of London. Previously, Ponge graduated with a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature and Philosophy from the University of Nairobi. 



  Gouri Shankar  Bhattacharyya

Dr. Gouri Shankar Bhattacharyya manages the Department of Medical Oncology at Salt Lake City Medical Centre, Kolkata. His principal area of interest lies in Cancer Research and delivery of Cost-Effective Cancer Care and repurposing of drugs.  He is a founder member of the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network (ICON), Molecular Oncology Society, and Indian Association of Cancer Research and the Founder Member of ICON Biorepository as well as member for Drafting of SOPs.  Gouri works with many external bodies and is a Member of the American School of Clinical Oncology. He is Guideline Drafting Committee reviewer for European Society for Medical Oncology, International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, American College of Clinical Pharmacology and a few more. He is also Chairman – ESMO Asia Colloquia for Biosimilars.





Ievgeniia Rubtsova graduated from the Bogomolets National Medicine University as a pediatrician and University of Economic and Law as an economist, however deep interest in evidence-based medicine brought her to the State Expert Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

She works as the expert of Medical Care Standardization Board since 2013. Her basic responsibilities include the following:

Searching for information in medical databases and other electronic information resources on issues of medical and pharmaceutical services provision, analysis and assessment of medical and technological documents and monitoring of existing normative acts, organisation and methodical support of multidisciplinary working groups to adaption clinical guidelines and development standards of medical care and communication and cooperation with NGOs

She was involved in the work on the adaptation of clinical guidelines and the development of clinical protocols on such topics as Melanoma, Colorectal cancer, Cervical cancer, Basal cell carcinoma, Lung cancer, Psoriasis, Atopic dermatitis, Gaucher disease and other.

Ievgeniia Rubtsova has wide experience of situation analysis, preparation and coordination of regulations in the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, creation and implementation of medical technological documents on health care standardization in Ukraine.


Etienne NgehEtienne Ngeh is a trained Cameroonian Physiotherapist and Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist with several posts of responsibilities. He is the Head of Physiotherapy Department St. Louis University Bamenda, Cameroon and leads the Physiotherapy service of the Regional Hospital Bamenda.

He is the founder and promoter of the Research Organisation for Health Education and Rehabilitation-Cameroon. Currently, through his research organisation assumes the role of the chief of rehabilitation services at the Fako Heart Centre in Buea pioneering the first cardiac rehabilitation program in Cameroon. He joined Guideline-International-Network in 2018, currently working with the implementation working group and also Africa’s regional group member.
